One year of parcel spam

Just A Card campaign supported by Floss & Mischief

Last year we made this promise to shout about the Just A Card campaign in every order we post. And we have.

We put our hand in our pocket, printed hundreds of flyers, and have included one in every parcel we could over the last year. Would we do it again? Yes we would, and yes we will.

The Just A Card campaign encourages people to support independent shops, galleries and designer-makers by reminding us all that every purchase, however small, matters to them. For us, it’s not about buying for the sake of buying. But rather, if you want to see your favourite independents thrive, action speaks louder than words. Next time you’re debating whether or not to buy that item, and it’s made or sold by an independent business like us, know that every single order keeps us in business.

Thank you for making us who we are today, and sorry (not sorry) for the Just A Card flyers in your parcels tomorrow.

Craft Business Awards 2016

Craft Business Awards 2016 logo

Who do you think are the stars of the craft industry? That’s what Craft Business magazine is asking its readers, in its annual Craft Business Awards.

In a fun turn of events, Floss & Mischief has been shortlisted for Best of British and Best Stitching & Haberdashery Manufacturer/Wholesaler!

We’re up against household names, long-established businesses and million-pound turnover companies, in both categories, so we’re not expecting to take home a title. But we’re mighty pleased to feature in the first place. #smugface

If you run a craft business and fancy giving Floss & Mischief a leg up in the competition, cast your vote by 8th January 2016 at Thanks, mischief maker!

Great news – the magnificent British Library is putting on a not-to-be-missed event to celebrate all things needlework! Plus, A Stitch in Time: A Day of Embroidery will also coincide with the exhibition of artist Cornelia Parker’s epic Magna Carta (An Embroidery).

For one day only on Saturday 6th June, there’ll be plenty to see and do! Marvel at Parker’s 13-metre long embroidery, watch expert demonstrations, listen to talks, take a hands-on workshop or masterclass, drop in to the sewing surgery, and browse the market place for stitching goodies.

This special event is aimed at all ages and abilities, so you’ll be sure of a great day discovering and exploring the world of stitch craft.

Find us on Saturday 6th June in the British Library’s Entrance Hall between 11am-5pm GMT, overflowing with cross-stitch goodness. Visit for more details.

Meet us at The Handmade Fair

The Handmade Fair

Kirstie Allsopp is on a quest to get Britain crafting! She believes that everyone has a craft they can do, and her craft fair this September hopes to inspire you to find and refine yours.

The Handmade Fair, 18-20 September, will once again be set within the beautiful grounds of Hampton Court Palace (UK). But that’s not the only reason why we like this craft fair – you can get your hands dirty. Between doing the skill workshop of your choice, taking in a Super Theatre session, and coming together with 250 fellow crafters to create a grand make, it’s a properly fun day out.

Tickets go on sale today. If you join in the fun at The Handmade Fair, make sure you swing by the West Shopping Village to meet us too! We might even have some seriously exciting new cross-stitch kits with us, *wink wink*.

Your portrait embroidered live

It’s no secret that the Crafty Fox Markets in London (UK) are some of our favourite events to hang out at. This weekend they’re skyrocketing to the top of our list!

At this weekend’s Spring Crafty Fox Market in Peckham (London, UK), 11-12th April, illustrator Emma Nicol will be putting her sewing machine in overdrive and embroidering portraits on demand. How cool is that?!

Emma, we salute you.
